Mind Sharing

Juliet’s notes after performing a mind sharing spell with Ceija Lovari

A mind sharing spell is an uncomfortably intimate spell that is difficult to cast and requires both trust and aligned minds but can be potentially useful when two witches must share memories. Both witches must take care not to inadvertently reveal their secrets to the other (or inadvertently pry) because stray thoughts can easily be followed and become shared memories. And given the intimacy of the connection, it can inflame the feelings the witches already bear one another, whether positive or negative. Performing a mind sharing spell can also be dangerous because it can break their minds if performed between witches that shouldn’t.

To perform a mind sharing spell, witches must first brew a potion of 1 cup unicorn water (for pure vision), 1 tsp thyme (for memory), 1 tsp pennyroyal (for harmony), 1 tsp eyebright (for inner vision), 1 tsp borage leaf (for calm strength), and 1 tbsp faedust (to strengthen the spell.) In a potion chalice (preferably silver since ’tis a sight spell), add the herbs to the unicorn water followed by the faedust then stir until well mixed. Cup the chalice’s bowl in both hands and repeatedly chant the following incantation in the witch’s tongue, “Mix and make two mind’s visions one.” The mind sharing potion will begin to bubble, hiss, and steam, and the steam and potion start as white but will change to incandescent gold when the potion is ready. (The potion will continue to bubble until its power fades.)

Once the mind sharing potion is prepared, both witches must face one another with the chalice cupped in their hands. Then they chant the following incantation in the witch’s tongue, “Two minds become one and share all, no secrets shadowing their unity. By the power of our magic, this potion, and the Goddess, let it be so.” Each witch drinks half of the mind sharing potion (preferably from the same spot on the chalice.) The potion tastes medicinal yet sweet and makes energy surge through both witches. After setting aside the chalice, the witches press their palms together and stare into each other’s eyes while chanting the mind sharing incantation once more to finish setting the spell.

After the mind sharing spell is cast, the witches’ blood will surge and their visions twist until their minds mesh with their presences entwined. One or both witches shutting their eyes at this point is helpful because they can see through each other’s eyes, and ’tis confusing to see two things at once. Then the witches can now share whatever memories are desired, but observe the warnings in the first paragraph. It is also best to end the mind sharing spell as quickly as possible because it can become increasingly intimate and uncomfortable, even between witches who love one another.

To end the mind sharing spell, the witches pull their bodies and minds apart while chanting the following incantation in the witch’s tongue, “Let the power of potion and magic fade until meshed minds become two again like the Goddess meant them to be.” As the mind sharing spell’s power fades, the connection between the two witches ends, and their minds should easily separate in most cases. However, this can be more difficult if the witches’ minds are especially compatible or one of the witches possesses much more magical powers than the other. But if the initial attempt to separate fails, the witches must simply forcefully repeat the separating incantation and pull apart harder until their minds finally break apart.

After such an intense spell, ’tis best for both witches to consume energy-rich food to help them recover (containing ambrosia if possible.) Yet other than the energy drain and shared memories, there should be no other consequences to performing a mind sharing spell. However, given its uncomfortable intimacy, I wouldn’t recommend it except in the most dire of circumstances.
