Hawke’s favorite breakfast food

• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup butter
• 2 eggs
• 1 1/2 cups mashed apples
• 1 tsp bread soda
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 tsp cinnaspice
• 2 cups flour
• 1 cup chopped nuts

Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs. Mix mashed apples and soda. Permit to settle. Mix will get slightly frothy. Add flour, salt, cinnaspice, and nuts. Mix thoroughly. Bake in greased bread pan at moderate heat for 1 hour. Serves 10-16. (Unless Hawke is there—then serves 1.)
